An underwire is a precision instrument when it's made well. The wire profile, length, and curvature; the way the cup is anchored to the wire; the band tensioning and strap placement — all calibrated together for the bra to lift, support, and disappear under clothing without leaving you aware of it.
This collection brings together underwire balconettes, plunges, full-coverage cups, t-shirt bras, soft-cup-look underwires, and longline underwire styles from houses including Chantelle, Simone Pérèle, Aubade, Lise Charmel, Cosabella, Panache, Adina Reay, La Perla, and our own Journelle Collection. Sizing extends from A through J cup across multiple band configurations.
From the fitting room: most "I hate underwires" reports trace back to underwires that were the wrong shape or wrong size, not to underwires as a category. The wires should sit flat against the rib cage between the breasts, follow the natural underbust line outward without digging into the breast tissue, and end before they reach the side seam. Our fitters specialise in this diagnostic; the fitting is free.

Underwire Bras
Underwire bras provide lift and shape that wire-free styles can't match — the underwire channels the weight of the bust outward and upward, creating a defined silhouette. Journelle's underwire edit covers lace underwire bras in full-coverage, demi, balconette, and plunge cuts, across sizes from AA through G. A well-fitted underwire bra should feel undetectable — the wire should sit flat against the ribcage at all points, never on breast tissue. If underwire digs or pokes, it's almost always a cup or band fit issue rather than a reason to avoid the style entirely.
