The Sexy Bras Worth Owning: Our Fitters' Edit
"Sexy" in lingerie gets applied to a lot of things that don't earn it — mostly anything red, anything with visible lace, anything that shows more than usual. The bras our fitters actually consider sexy are different. They're the ones that fit. Not as a platitude, but as a functional reality: a bra that sits correctly, holds correctly, and disappears when it should or shows when it's meant to is doing something that a poorly fitting piece in dramatic fabric isn't. Fit is the prerequisite.
That said, there are specific styles built to be worn with intention rather than hidden. Here's how our fitters think about them.
The open cup bra
The most deliberate choice in our inventory. An open cup bra — also called a cupless bra or ouvert bra — is built on the same underwire structure as a standard bra but with the cups cut away, lifting and framing the bust without covering it. It's not a novelty. It's a specific silhouette with engineering behind it, and when it fits correctly, it does something no other style does.

The lace plunge
A plunge bra with a deep V center gore in fine French lace is one of the pieces our fitters recommend most often for women who want something that functions as a foundation bra and reads as lingerie. The straps are designed to show under a low neckline. The lace is visible above it. It works.
The Aubade Rosessence and the Simone Pérèle Caresse plunge are two consistent favourites in our fitting rooms. Both have real underwire construction, both come in extended sizes, and both are made with Calais lace that holds its structure and softens over time rather than pilling or distorting.
The balconette
The balconette bra sits the bust high and wide with a low, horizontal cup cut — and the straps set far enough apart that the bra reads as a feature rather than a foundation. It's inherently a more visible style. The low cup shows above wide or square necklines by design; the deliberate lace or embroidery on most balconettes assumes it will be seen.

The sheer bralette worn out
A good sheer bralette occupies a different category from the rest of this list: it's a piece that migrated from lingerie into outerwear and hasn't looked back. The key word is "good" — a fine mesh or Calais stretch lace bralette with structure holds its shape off the body. A cheap one doesn't, and the difference is visible.
