About Bordelle at Journelle
Bordelle is a London-based luxury lingerie house founded in 2009 by Alexandra Popa, an architect-turned-designer whose background shapes the work in obvious ways. The label is best known for its signature cage-strapping technique — geometric lattices of bonded grosgrain that wrap the body like sculpture.
The aesthetic is architectural and unapologetic: precise band-and-strap geometry, hardware that functions as both fastening and ornament, pieces designed to be seen rather than to disappear under clothes. Bordelle produces underwire bras, briefs, suspenders, harnesses, and bodysuits in restrained colour stories that lean toward black, burgundy, and deep jewel tones. Sizing follows UK conventions across cup and band.
From the fitting room: Bordelle is engineered for women who want lingerie that holds its shape with minimal stretch — the construction is structured rather than soft, and the bands have less give than typical lace pieces. Try your usual UK band size first; if it's between, the smaller is often the better choice here. The hardware is solid and built to last, but should be hand-washed to preserve the gold-plate finishing.
