Head of Digital MarketingOVERVIEW
Journelle is seeking a Director of Digital Marketing to join our team. This individual will be responsible for all digital-first marketing efforts. Success will be measured by the efficiency of the dollars we spend and on providing qualified traffic to the website.
This individual will have 3 key responsibility areas: paid digital marketing, email marketing, and social media. The role will report to the CEO and will require close partnership with many other departments including Ecommerce, Brand Marketing, Finance, and others. This role will have several direct reports and will be able to select and hire individuals to join their team.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
PAID DIGITAL MARKETING
- Implement best practices for digital marketing, as adapted to Journelle.
- Select and manage digital partners and agencies.
- Manage all SEM, Display and Paid Social marketing campaigns. Map out plan by channel, including content and budget. Must be aligned with Sales and Promotion calendar, seasonal and annual corporate goals, and product mix.
- Ensure all programs come in on or under budget.
- Track closely and analyze key KPIs. Develop robust tracking sheets and tools. Benchmark Journelle to where KPIs “should” be in a given channel based on industry knowledge.
- Optimize performance of all digital programs based on tracking.
- Develop and optimize brand’s attribution modeling.
EMAIL MARKETING
- Develop and execute sophisticated segmentation approach.
- Partner with Brand Marketing to execute daily email calendar.
SOCIAL MEDIA
- Post daily content across social media platforms.
- Oversee selection of images, copy and themes, in alignment with the sales and promotional calendar and brand-standards.
- Develop brand through social channels.
ALIGNMENT WITH OTHER DEPARTMENTS AND MARKETING EFFORTS
- Work closely and cross-functionally with all other departments: Stores, Ecom +Tech, Product, Operations, and Brand Marketing.
- Partner to develop brand-enhancing marketing collateral and ideas.
- Oversee selection of images, copy and themes, in alignment with the sales and promotional calendar and brand-standards.
CONTINOUS IMPROVEMENT
- Promote learning mindset, employing rigorous A/B test setup to always “get better”. Use data to drive our messaging, within guidelines of the brand.
- Proactively stay abreast of industry trends and recommend ways the business can capitalize on these changes.
- Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising the campaigns.
- Scale digital marketing team.
- Find new channels in addition to the current ones utilized to grow brand awareness and drive sales. Podcasts? Guerrilla marketing campaigns? We are open to all of it.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- 5-10 years in an ecommerce environment analyzing site behavioral trends and sales metrics
- 3+ years of experience using digital applications (Google Analytics, AdWords etc.) preferably executing or assisting in continuous updates to site and marketing tags
- 4-year college degree.
- Experience managing performance of direct reports and external vendors, including delivering feedback, setting and communicating clear expectations.
- Advanced excel and analysis skills.
SKILL SET
- DATA ANALYSIS. Able to understand KPIs for the business and track to them. Able to synthesize data and perform advanced Excel analysis to develop data-sound conclusions. Adept at technical software and able to learn web-based tools.
- VISION AND CHANGE. Able to look beyond where Journelle is today and envision a different way of doing things. Experienced in change management. Understands how to stage change so that we can both move quickly and mitigate risk.
- BRAND ALLIGNED. Can understand our brand and ensure all digital work is aligned with our brand messages.
- TEAM & CULTURE. Strong communication and intrapersonal skills. Appreciation for debate and discourse. Strong work ethic. Passion for the consumer, and for learning. Self-aware, development focused mindset. Ability to self-motivate and maintain momentum in ambiguous situations. Interested in building a team.
