About this collection
A chemise or slip is the rare lingerie piece that can read as both undergarment and as outerwear, depending on how it's styled. At their best, they sit somewhere between a nightgown and a dress — soft enough to sleep in, considered enough to wear under sharp tailoring or paired with a knit cardigan for an unhurried morning.
This collection brings together silk chemises, modal jersey slips, lace-trimmed nightgowns, and bias-cut slip dresses from houses including Eberjey, Morgan Lane, Fleur of England, Cosabella, Studio Pia, and our own Journelle Collection. Sizing typically follows American or European conventions through XL.
From the fitting room: silk slips drape closer to the body than modal or cotton equivalents — if you typically size up for ease in soft sleepwear, the same approach often produces a more flattering line in silk. Bias cuts are designed to skim rather than cling. Hand-wash silk styles; modal styles can go on a delicate cycle.

Silk Slip Dresses, Chemises & Lingerie Slips
A silk slip dress occupies a category of its own — not quite sleepwear, not quite outerwear, and more useful than either description suggests. Worn under a sheer dress or blazer it smooths the silhouette; worn alone with sandals or mules it reads as intentional. Journelle's slip edit covers bias-cut silk slips in ivory and black, lace slip dresses with adjustable straps, and modal chemises that sit between a nightgown and a camisole dress. Silk slip dresses in fine charmeuse drape without clinging and photograph the way satin-finish fabric does in daylight. A slip dress in silk is also, correctly sized, one of the most flattering things to sleep in — the category rewards buying well and taking care of it. Hand-wash silk; air dry flat.
